Product Manager

REMOTE

Role Mission

The Product Manager owns the product strategy and execution for HCIM’s automation platform, beginning with SymKey and extending to new product opportunities. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that combines strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and hands-on execution: identifying market opportunities, defining product strategy, prioritizing roadmap investments, and working closely with Engineering, UI/UX, and go-to-market teams to deliver meaningful outcomes while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence. This role reports to the VP of Software Engineering and interacts regularly with the CEO, Sales, Client Success, and Finance.

Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, or product leadership
  • Background in healthcare payer operations (claims, prior authorization, provider data, or eligibility) is a meaningful differentiator — candidates with this experience will ramp faster and add immediate strategic value
  • Experience developing or supporting data-driven products, automation platforms (esp. RPA), APIs, or workflow systems
  • Comfort using modern AI-assisted development tools to prototype and explore product ideas
  • Experience delivering software products in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, including market sizing and ROI financial modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to translate client needs and market opportunities into successful products
  • Experience operating in Agile development environments
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, design, sales, and operational teams

Key Areas of Responsibility

The Product Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Strategy & Discovery

  • Develop and maintain HCIM’s product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Conduct market research, including competitive analysis, client interviews, and market sizing.
  • Identify white space opportunities and differentiated product ideas.
  • Build business cases including ROI analysis, development investment estimates, and revenue projections.

 Product Definition & Delivery

  • Rapidly validate ideas based on client feedback by building lightweight prototypes using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Figma, Loveable, Cursor, Claude Code) with engineers, designers, and clients before committing to full development.
  • Translate product strategy into well-defined product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner closely with engineering and design to deliver high-quality features and products.
  • Lead backlog prioritization, sprint planning participation, and roadmap alignment.

 Client Impact & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Drive measurable improvements in client adoption, automation coverage, and operational efficiency for HCIM clients.
  • Support expansion within existing clients and contribute to new client wins through strong product positioning and enablement, including participation in sales & marketing activities.
  • Work closely with Sales, Client Success, and Implementation teams to understand client needs and operational challenges.
  • Continuously refine priorities based on client feedback, data insights, and business objectives.
  • Help ensure product releases deliver clear and measurable value to clients.
  • Monitor adoption, client impact, and operational outcomes to guide future product investments.
  • Communicate product strategy, roadmap priorities, and product outcomes to internal and external audiences.

Outcomes

A successful person in this role will accomplish the following in their first year at HCIM:

  • Develop and publish a clear written product strategy and 18-month roadmap aligned with HCIM’s strategy, market opportunities, and client needs — this is the most important deliverable.
  • Establish a predictable product release cadence and deliver meaningful product enhancements that improve client outcomes.
  • Drive a continuous discovery process by delivering at least one proof-of-concept (POC) per quarter and identifying and validating at least one net-new automation opportunity (e.g., a new payer platform or workflow), each backed by market research, ROI modeling, and a product charter.

Personal Characteristics

We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution:

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, early-stage environments where the path forward is not yet defined
  • Proactive and self-directed with a strong sense of ownership — you drive things to completion without being managed
  • Able to move fluidly between strategy and hands-on execution — equally comfortable in a roadmap planning session and a prototype review
  • Collaborative and high-integrity — earns trust quickly across engineering, sales, and client-facing teams

Why This Role Is Interesting

  • Outsized strategic influence — you are HCIM’s first dedicated PM; your product decisions directly shape company direction, and the roadmap is yours to own
  • Mission-driven, defensible market — healthcare payer automation is a multibillion-dollar market with structural tailwinds and in the early stages of RPA, API, and AI adoption; HCIM has 26+ years of client trust and 35 active payer clients as a launching pad
  • AI at the core, not the periphery — you’ll use AI-assisted tools as a force multiplier in your own workflow, and will help define how AI transforms HCIM’s platform for clients
  • Direct CEO and leadership access — this is a small, high-trust team; your work is seen, your ideas are heard, and you will have a seat at the table on decisions that matter
  • Meaningful, real-world impact on patient outcomes — automation that removes administrative bottlenecks means faster prior authorizations, fewer claim errors, and more time for patient care; you will see the downstream impact of your work

 Work Environment

The Product Manager will perform duties from a home-based office in collaboration with HCIM colleagues located elsewhere. Travel for occasional face-to-face work sessions with colleagues and/or HCIM clients will be necessary. This role may require up to 20% travel.

About HCIM and Your Opportunity for Impact

Healthcare Information Management, Inc. (HCIM) is a healthcare-focused robotic process automation (RPA) software company serving health plans, risk-bearing providers/their management services organizations (MSOs), and third-party administrators (TPAs). HCIM’s flagship product, SymKey, uses IntelliRPA robotic automation to process manual workflows 6–8x faster than an employee with 100% accuracy, allowing staff to focus on more complex tasks and helping clients reduce costs and improve service quality.

The healthcare industry is grappling with an unprecedented efficiency crisis. Healthcare payers face increasingly complex regulatory and reporting requirements, while administrative tasks such as claims processing, prior authorizations, and provider data management consume valuable time and divert attention from patient care. HCIM’s focus on empowering healthcare organizations with automation that enhances operational efficiency and improves patient outcomes is more critical than ever. As HCIM transforms its platform to meet these industry pressures, the Product Manager will be central to defining and delivering next generation innovations to help payers and the patients they serve.
